The Annapolis Police Department has identified 18-year-old Reco Ramon Johnson as the shooting victim found dead in the Woodside Gardens community Sunday.

Around 7 p.m., officers found Johnson outside a building suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest in the 700 block of Newtowne Drive. He was declared dead at the scene.

In a news release Tuesday, police said no other details were available from the active investigation. Those with information are asked to contact Annapolis detectives at 410-260-3439 or call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP to submit an anonymous tip.

Johnson is the first homicide victim in Annapolis or Anne Arundel County this year.

Annapolis Police only investigated one homicide in 2022, compared to five the year prior. No arrests have been made in connection to Shakeo Williams’ death. The 21-year-old was shot on Madison Street nearly a year ago on Jan. 27, 2022.
