Two people died in a single-vehicle crash over the weekend in Etowah County.
Alabama State Troopers identified the fatality victims as James E. Dayries, 64, of Louisiana, and Mairi D. Scott, 72, of Tennessee.
Authorities announced the deaths Thursday. The cause for the delay was not immediately available.
The wreck happened at 12:25 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 59, about 12 miles north of Attalla.
Senior Trooper Cody Farrar said Dayries was driving a GMC box truck that left a road and struck a tree. He and Scott, his passenger, were both pronounced dead on the scene.
The investigation is ongoing by troopers.
