“Everything just feels so real, the past year’s gone by so fast,” Watts said. “I feel like just yesterday I was committing, and now we’re here and so close to be able to play my first college game.”
Watts was named the 2023-24 Gatorade Ohio Softball Player of the Year this past summer.
The Fitch star helped the Falcons win two Division I state titles in the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons.
“The minute I stepped on campus, I fell in love. It was everything I dreamed of going to school,” Watts said. “The coaching staff, the location, just everything. The academics are unbelievable and I couldn’t ask for a better opportunity.”
This past season, she recorded a 23-1 mark in the circle with a 0.53 run average. She struck out 279 batters and allowed just 27 hits in 133.1 innings pitched. Watts also pitched a perfect game in the state semifinals and finished with a two-hit shutout in the title game.
She also hit .479 with 13 home runs and 48 runs batted in.
“I started crying this morning when I did it, it just it felt so unreal,” Watts said. “All my hard work is finally paid off and, just, it felt amazing.”
Georgia Tech finished the 2023 season with an overall record of (32-23) and (13-13) in conference.
Watts will graduate Fitch early and join the Georgia Tech softball team in spring 2025.
