Is the crocodile invasion video from Brazil real?

TikTok has been buzzing with the video of crocodiles in Brazil and the captions suggest that it was an “invasion,” but are these rumors true?

Videos tend to go viral on social media within a span of a couple of minutes and something similar happened when people thought they saw a crocodile invasion.

Many were quick to share the same and from TikTok, the video went on to make its way to other platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and others.

Crocodile video explored

People have been coming across a video in which what appears to be a group of crocodiles lying on the beach. While no one appears to be near it the large number definitely had many users surprised.

In fact, people started referring to it as “invasion” as it seemed like the crocodiles had taken over the entire are. Many thought the clip was from Brazil as all the hashtags pointed towards that.

People have been sharing the same on other platforms which has sparked curiosity among others.

Is the video real?

As per Associated Press, the video shows reptiles are yacare caimans. These are species that are closely related to alligators, not crocodiles.

The video is a phenomenon that takes place during the dry season in Brazil’s Pantanal region as the yacare caimans want to maintain their body temperature. It is not unusual for this to happen as it does take place every year.

Nearly 10 million yacare caimans can be spotted in the area during this time. Another important thing to note is that the video was taken near and river and not a beach.

The outlet reports that the Pantanal region does not have any beaches nearby.
