2023 Record: 7-5 (Lost to Phoebus 56-8 in playoffs)
Notable Players: QB Marcus Chapman, ATH Casey Lassiter, ATH Devan Anthony
Hampton is a very young team that made strides last season under head coach Woodrow Wilson, who had the unenviable task of replacing a legend in Mike Smith, who led the Crabbers for 51 years. Sophomore quarterback Marcus Chapman has already received a scholarship offer from NC State, but despite that, Wilson expects the Crabbers to be a defensive minded group.
Wilson said Hampton has a chance to make some noise, but he offers up a caveat.
“If everyone stays healthy,” Wilson said. “If we lose our quarterback, we’re in trouble. If we can keep him upright and healthy, we should be pretty formidable.”
