Nansemond River was the only team from Hampton Roads to play a relatively competitive game against the Class 5 state champions Maury. The Warriors lost to the Commodores 34-14 in the region playoffs.
Coach Ricks says there is no moral victory in that game against Maury. “We just came away short, we did not finish like we wanted to, so that’s in the back of our minds. We’re just trying to get over the hump and finish and make great strides this season.”
