About $1 million in damages were reported when nearly a dozen commercial vehicles were burned and vandalized at a construction site off of Interstate 84 in Farmington over the weekend.
Troopers said they were contacted Monday just after 10:45 a.m. by Hammonasset Construction, who reported that several vehicles parked at the site in the area of Exit 39A had been damaged sometime over the weekend, according to Connecticut State Police.
Troopers responded to the site and found several commercial vehicles “heavily damaged by fire” and several others vandalized within a secluded construction yard off the highway, state police said. According to state police, 11 vehicles were damaged. Hammonasset Construction estimated that the damages totaled about $1 million.
State police are investigating the incident as an arson and are asking the public for help. Troopers noted that the fire likely would have been visible from both sides of I-84 in that area as well as the I-84 West Exit 39A off-ramp and the Route 9 exit 40A ramp connector to I-84.
