CT man run over by SUV in hit-and-run crash in critical condition

A man is hospitalized in critical condition after he was run over by an SUV in a hit-and-run crash in Bridgeport early Monday morning.

The Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received a call around 2:53 a.m. on Monday for a pedestrian being stuck by a sports utility vehicle, according to the Bridgeport Police Department.

The caller said a male pedestrian was just run over, “and he’s lying in the road in the 400 block of Chopsey Hill Road,” police said.

Bridgeport Fire Engine 12, American Medical Response and Bridgeport officers were dispatched to the scene where they found a male pedestrian lying in road. According to police, the 44-year-old man from Bridgeport was unresponsive.

Police said the man sustained suspected serious injured and was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.

According to police, the SUV fled the scene in an unknown direction.
