The newest addition to the Dragon Ball franchise is switching things around as fans start to piece Dragon Ball DAIMA with the rest of the series. Whenever a Dragon Ball series is concerned, there’s so much to take account of, from the timelines to the power scaling. The latter is easily one of the most puzzling and interesting parts of being a fan of the series. With a single episode, DAIMA has given fans a lot to think about.
The new revelations about the Demon Realm and the introduction of the new villains add another layer to an already extensive world. However, there’s something DAIMA might have established right off the bat about the strength of the main characters. Considering how things went in the first episode, Goku might not be the strongest character in the series even after the opposite being stated in the episode outright.
Goku Might Not be the Strongest Character in Dragon Ball DAIMA
In Dragon Ball DAIMA, Goku is introduced as the most powerful warrior. While this statement instantly puts him on the top, there’s much more to consider when we think about the strongest character. It becomes clear from the recap that the series can be placed after the Buu Saga, right before Super. There are some aspects from Super present as well.
At the end of the Buu Saga, Ultimate Gohan was the strongest non-fused character in the series. Considering how DAIMA takes place right after Buu Saga, it’s safe to assume that Gohan is the strongest character in DAIMA, and not Goku. Fans believe that to be the case as well.

The statement about him being the most powerful warrior was probably just a way to introduce him, rather than being a fact that establishes the absolute power scaling for the series. However, there’s another aspect of the episode that suggests that things might change quite soon, or maybe they already have.
The Power Scale Might Turn Around By the End
The first thing we see Goku do during the first episode is engage in a training session with Vegeta. Goku has always been quite diligent about training. That is not the case with Gohan; he is known for slacking off. This makes it easier for Goku and Vegeta to surpass him any day.
So, it’s safe to assume that Gohan might have been the strongest character at the beginning, but it won’t be long before Goku catches up. Or that he has already caught up. Similar to how, at the beginning of Super, Goku was stronger than everyone else, including Gohan.
It’s quite clear that Goku is the main character of DAIMA, so it’s safe to assume that the focus will largely remain on him. It will be interesting to see how the story progresses, as it can switch things around for both characters. Canonically, the placement of Akira Toriyama’s final project suggests that Goku isn’t the strongest. But with how things are progressing, it won’t be long before he reclaims the top spot.
While the stunning animation is under the spotlight, there’s a lot going on with every scene in DAIMA. Only one episode in, and Toriyama has got us all analyzing the minute details. As things get more heated, the new snippets of information will enrich the Dragon Ball experience a little more.
