What Are the Answers to the Elevator Quiz in Silent Hill 2 Remake?
While riding the elevator down to the basement of the Otherworld’s version of Brookhaven Hospital, you’ll suddenly hear a radio broadcast start playing through the speakers.
It’s not just some random one, either: The host of this show, “Trick or Treat,” directly addresses James Sunderland, asking him a set of three questions relating to the lore of Silent Hill, the town.
If you haven’t been scribbling down notes of important information as you go through the game, don’t panic. All the answers are right here.
Typically, players would’ve relied on the game’s memo system that notes every piece of important information you need for lore- and puzzle-related reasons. However, the answers to these three questions won’t appear in that section: You’re expected to remember them.
Here are the questions you’ll be asked, with the answers bolded.
Question 1: How many souls were lost during the plague in Silent Hill?
The answer to this question is on a plaque you can find on a statue at Rosewater Park.
Question 2: What road will take you from Sanders Street to the Lumber Yard?

- 2: Munson Street
- 3: Wiltse Road
If you check the Map of South Vale, you’ll see that the answer is Wiltse Road. It’s the correct path to the Lumber Yard.
Question 3: Billy Locane was one of two children murdered by Walter Sullivan. What was the name of Billy’s sister?
- 1: Miriam
- 2: Heather
- 3: Julia
Several memos in Woodside Apartments reference this incident, one of them naming Miriam Locane as the sister to Billy Locane, the unfortunate child victim of Water Sullivan’s.
How to Solve the Elevator Quiz in Silent Hill 2 Remake
While getting the Silent Hill 2 Elevator Quiz isn’t optional since it’s presented during a mandatory trip to the Hospital’s basement, solving it is.
That being said, you don’t want to miss out on this because the rewards you get from seeing it through include a ton of valuable ammo for some of your more powerful guns.
You can’t just take the elevator to the basement from the get-go, though. You’ll have to obtain the -1 Elevator Button from solving the Chained Box puzzle, which our guide covers.
After you take the elevator to Floor -1 and get the quiz, you have to wait until you meet up with Maria. Revisit the hospital’s first floor and discover that the pharmacy door is now unlocked.
Tip
Entering the incorrect number will cause James to take damage, so you might want to save your game in case you make a mistake.
Inside is a box locked with a three-number code. The answer is made up of the three quiz answers we mentioned earlier, corresponding to their option number.
Input ‘231’ and the box will open, rewarding you with Shotgun Shells and Syringes. These will be pretty helpful during any Pyramid Head encounters.
