‘I’d love to do for a young kid what Robert Downey Jr. did for me’

While Tom Holland has been arguably the most comic-accurate fit for Spider-Man on the live-action front, his MCU entries didn’t exactly shape him as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. From his first appearance, his personal stories were rushed in favor of the Avengers storyline, with Homecoming serving as the launchpad for his association with the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Even though there’s nothing wrong with that direction, Avengers’ heavy involvement, especially Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, took the spotlight away from more personal and grounded Peter Parker stories. Although Holland is hoping to follow in Iron Man’s footsteps for Miles Morales’ eventual addition to the roster, the MCU should avoid it for one reason.

With fans intrigued about the next chapter in Peter Parker’s Spider-Man journey, Tom Holland revealed that they’re still busy developing the final draft for the film. Although it can’t be said for certain if it’d be a multiversal epic or a street-level story, the Uncharted star expressed that he’d love to play a similar figure to MCU’s Miles Morales like Robert Downey Jr‘s Iron Man.

If I would be lucky enough to somehow bring Miles Morales into my Spider-Man Universe and into the MCU, I’d love to do for a young kid what [Robert] Downey [Jr.] did for me,

Following Miles Morales’ success outside the mainline MCU, it’s safe to say the young webhead would be on Kevin Feige’s radar.

And suppose if they do eventually decide to bring him into the equation, the MCU should avoid giving him the Iron Man treatment with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, as it might end up overshadowing Morales’ own story.

Although time will tell what the future holds for Holland’s Spider-Man, his predecessor, Andrew Garfield, is open to the idea of reprising the role, as he added there are endless possibilities with his version of Peter.

However, similar to his sentiments towards No Way Home, in which he felt his return made sense and served the character right, the actor will only reprise the role if there’s a great story to back it up.

For sure, I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and
odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into.

With no shortage of great Spider-Man media, whether it be animation, game, or live-action, fans will hope the purple patch for the character continues with Spider-Man 4.
