Koby’s Monstrous Strength Proves Luffy’s Next Biggest Threat Will Push Him to His Absolute Limit

The last One Piece anime episode before the series went on a six-month hiatus was a complete banger as it showed what the future of the Navy is capable of. The anime series recently portrayed the epic clash between Garp and his proteges against the Blackbeard Pirates on the infamous Hachinosu Island. However, it might just have revealed more than that.

Fans got to see the power of Monkey D. Garp and Koby for the first time, and honestly, they might just hold the top spot on the list of the most powerful Marine soldiers. But that’s not all. The battle also shows the enormous strength of the Navy and how they might become a big threat to the pirates who are in their final phase to find the One Piece treasure.

More specifically, it gives an analysis of how strong Luffy’s next biggest threat will be from the Navy. Given his role as the main character and his history, Luffy will inevitably face off against Akainu, the current fleet admiral. Additionally, based on Koby’s performance versus the Blackbeard Pirates, Akainu, who is much stronger than Koby, might just push Luffy to his limit.

Koby’s Growth in the Past Three Years

Ever since One Piece started, Koby is the only character who has had the most growth in such a short time. When he was introduced, he was just a feeble boy who was somehow surviving under the tyranny of the Alvida Pirates. But his life changed when he met Luffy and Zoro, and he decided to pursue his dream of becoming a Navy Admiral and taking down evil pirates.

When he finally got into the Navy, Monkey D. Garp took him under his wing and trained him in the most extreme way possible. Koby had to go through rigorous training, but his willpower was bigger than his wounds, and he eventually became a Navy captain and also joined SWORD. His strength level increased so much that he gained the title of “Hero” just like his mentor.

However, the true revelation of his strength was seen recently on Hachinosu Island when he single-handedly destroyed the gigantic rock limb created by Pizarro using his Devil Fruit abilities. Koby combined his inner strength with Advanced Armament Haki and unleashed a blow (Honesty Impact) that put him close to Zoro and Sanji’s level. But he still needs to work very hard and get stronger.

Koby’s Strength Gave a Hint At The Navy’s True Power

Given that Koby only entered the Navy three years ago and was able to launch an attack on par with numerous Yonko commanders, it is logical to assume that the Marines in One Piece are better equipped with training than the pirates. They are much more hardworking, and their power levels increase at a much higher level than the pirates of One Piece.

This proves that the strongest individual in the Navy, Fleet Admiral Akainu, will be much stronger than anything Luffy has ever faced in One Piece. Akainu was already considered a dangerous threat, but looking at Luffy’s growth, many fans assumed that he might just beat Akainu with much ease. However, the recent display of power by the future of the Navy has silenced everyone.

Considering Luffy’s past with Akainu (when he killed Ace), the two forces are bound to clash in the future. Initially, it felt like Luffy would take him down easily, but now it looks like Akainu might push Luffy to his absolute limit. It would be one of the greatest battles in One Piece, and fans are eagerly waiting for it.

One Piece is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
