It’s a sad day for all fans of Liam Payne – the former member of British boy group One Direction passed away after he reportedly fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Wednesday. The spokesman of the ambulance city provider said that he had fallen about 40 meters and his injuries were fatal.
Payne was a father to seven-year-old Bear, a son he shared with ex-girlfriend Cheryl Cole. The kid was born in 2017, a year after he and his former partner got together. As a young dad, the late singer had a lot of realizations.

Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole tried their best to keep their son away from the spotlight and the attention of the media. As a former idol, Payne knew the pressure that comes with being surrounded by lights and cameras. When he became a young father, he felt protective of Bear.
The singer told People back in 2018 what it was like having a child at a young age, an experience that he has always dreamed of.
I always wanted to be a young dad, but I didn’t really expect that I’d ever be in this place. I had my son at a young age, and you think it will be a magical thing, that you’re going to grow up one day into the person you’re supposed to be.
Even though he got his wish, he was still in the dark about how to handle the situation. It took him quite a long time to figure out how to perform his duties as a dad, coming up with the realization that a father takes care of everyone. He said he loved to cook for his son.
Though he is no longer in a relationship with Cole at present, he still made sure to visit Bear two or three times a week. The late musician admitted he gave 100 percent of his time whenever he was with his child – no phone or messing with something else.
Furthermore, he believed that his son looked at him as a superhero, a thing he wanted to remain forever. He believed Bear needed to spend time with him as he grew up. He only gave rare updates about his son on social media, and the Teardrops singer did this to protect their privacy.

Payne and Cole broke up in 2018, but that did not stop them from showing love and support to each other. The late singer told Glamour that “Cheryl is literally the best person to co-parent with.” He admitted there was no stress in their relationship and they talked a lot over FaceTime.
They also got even closer during these times. He recalled the tough time when he was not allowed to see his son due to the pandemic, but it did not stop him from doing his best to reach out and make his son feel the love of a father.
