Tite Kubo’s Bleach Has its Own Version of Todo

Tite Kubo has created a plethora of unique characters for Bleach, and Yasutora Sado, more commonly known as Chad, is one of them. Chad is one of those characters who has the least amount of haters.

Yes, as the series progressed, his screen time dwindled, making fans think he was not powerful enough for the newer enemies. However, Chad has a heart of gold, and people love him for his no-nonsense personality.

Aoi Todo from Jujutsu Kaisen became famous as soon as he debuted because of his infectious personality. The way he hit it off with Yuji was also appreciated by everyone. He is a larger-than-life kind of guy and has no reservations about expressing himself. Todo is also ready to sacrifice himself for his friends, and his battles are some of the most memorable ones in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Chad parallels Todo’s fearlessness and trustworthy personality in Bleach. Despite being a quiet person, his few dialogues speak volumes. He is also extremely trustworthy and has helped Ichigo on multiple occasions. Well, anyone who enters the Soul Society and is ready to battle Yhwach for their friend can be called a mate for life, and that is exactly what Chad is.

But Chad wasn’t always the wholesome fella that you see. During his early years, he was extremely violent and always exploited his size by intimidating and hitting children who annoyed him. The man who adopted him, Oscar, tried to teach him otherwise. But it was only when Oscar took the punishment for Chad’s misdeeds that he finally realized the importance of being kind.

Tite Kubo Made Chad’s Personality Shine in Bleach

Chad is a quiet person on most occasions and is happy being an observer in situations unless it demands his intervention. He is extremely intelligent and is a good strategist in battles. His loyalty to Ichigo and his friend group is unquestionable. He even went as far as defeating a Gotei 13 captain to help Ichigo.

His fearlessness has not only been admired by his allies but also by his enemies, including the very first Hollow that he battles. He might be emotionless most of the time, but he cares deeply for everyone. The only time he lets his emotions escape is when someone he cares about is in danger.

But Chad is not just about fearlessness and brute strength; Tite Kubo has also given him an extremely cute side. He has a soft spot for cute things and small animals. Thus, he adores the plushie form of Kon. He loves a show called Carnivore Kingdom and Kon is a knock-off plushie of the main character of the show. As a result, Sado can’t help but melt at the sight of Kon.

The Bleach manga is available to read on Viz Media, and the anime is currently airing on Crunchyroll. Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War is streaming on Disney+.
