Fiery head-on crash between 2 tractor-trailers leaves 1 dead, 1 injured in Montgomery County

A fiery crash between two 18-wheelers in Montgomery County left one driver dead and another injured.

Alabama State Troopers on Friday identified the fatality victim as Idrissa Sidibe. He was 61 and lived in New York City.

The wreck happened at 6 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 231, about five miles south of Montgomery.

ALEA Lt. Jeremy Burkett said Sidibe was driving a Freightliner tractor-trailer that collided head-on with an International tractor-trailer driven by 28-year-old Wesley C. Jenkins of Oklahoma.

The 18-wheelers were fully engulfed by flames, Burkett said.

Sidibe was pronounced dead on the scene. Jenkins was injured and taken to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery.

The investigation is ongoing by troopers.
