Nick Saban takes subtle jab at Finebaum’s doom and gloom: ‘You only have to lose one with Paul’

Alabama’s season has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for Crimson Tide fans.

A win over then-No. 1 Georgia was followed by a loss to Vanderbilt and less-than-comfortable win against South Carolina. “College GameDay” analyst Nick Saban has no doubt coach Kalen DeBoer will win over the fans, but he pointed immediate reaction to anytime a team loses. And, yes, Paul Finebaum’s name came up.

“I can’t make any predictions about the future in terms of what people’s patience is going to be, but they don’t have a lot of patience at Alabama,” Saban said during his weekly Friday appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.” “They have high expectations. You can’t get caught up in that. You’ve got to just focus on what you’ve got to do to make the team play as well as you can and don’t let any of that stuff affect you.

“That’s one of the things that I think allowed me to not lose my mind while I was there. We got criticized every time we lost a game. I don’t know how many times that I heard Paul Finebaum say this is the beginning of the end. I mean – but it never was but he said it a lot. You only have to lose one game with Paul.”
