An 88-year-old man is dead after a crash on I-91 southbound that closed the highway in Enfield Friday afternoon.
Police identified the man as William Higgins of Enfield.
Higgins was driving a 2012 Toyota RAV4 on Route 5 and attempted to enter I-91 South through a wooded grassy area, according to police. He reportedly then crashed into a dump truck on I-91 driven by Christopher Wilcox.
Both men were brought to Hartford Hospital where Higgins was pronounced dead. Wilcox was treated for minor injuries.
