Mihawk Was Nervous After Seeing Zoro’s 3 Sword Style? Potential Relationship Between Mihawk and Zoro’s Family

In the epic world of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece, where hundreds of swordsmen have been featured, Roronoa Zoro is the name that fans have held close to their hearts. Some even consider him to be the second protagonist; after all, Oda-Sensei has featured him in epic fights, which in all accords give the main character aura.

Time and again, he has proved why his captain can always count on him, as the Straw Hat first mentioned how the King of the Pirates would prefer to have the best swordsman in his crew. Currently, he is one of the strongest swordsmen in all of OP verse, possessing a unique fighting style, and a never-yielding personality.

Sadly, in the pre-time skip arc, it was not enough for him to beat Dracule Mihawk, the strongest swordsman in the world. While he defeated the Pirate Hunter effortlessly, he was briefly nervous as he saw his opponent’s three-sword style, which reminded him of his past.

Roronoa Zoro’s 3 Sword Style Reminded Mihawk of Roronoa Arashi

There’s no denying that Eiichiro Oda has made Roronoa Zoro fiercely determined where he wants to become the world’s greatest swordsman and fulfill the pledge he made to his childhood friend, Shimotsuki Kuina. Time and again, he has proved that he does not just want to be good, but he needs to be great to achieve the title.

However, his ego was destroyed, when he went against Mihawk in Chapter 51 or episode 24 of the series, where he faced a crushing defeat against his opponent and made a pledge of never losing ever again. Interestingly, when they squared off, many fans would have failed to notice how the former Warlord of the Sea was nervous momentarily.

Recently, a content creator (@ShesoOp) shared a YouTube Shorts, where they explained that the nervousness was because of a figure from the past. The creator mentioned how in the latest SBS, Oda-Sensei revealed that the Moss Head is the son of Roronoa Arashi, “which means storm in Japanese.” Interestingly, the episode where Mihawk was introduced was called “Storm.”

Additionally, the mangaka had also mentioned that Roronoa Arashi died at the hands of a mysterious pirate. The creator connected the two dots; they believe that the mangaka is hinting that “Mihawk was the one who killed Zoro’s father.” Hence, providing a good enough reason for why the member of the Cross Guild showed a slight “sign of fear.”

The unique 3-sword style might have reminded Hawk Eyes about Arashi and it was quite surprising for him to see someone from the East Blue using this style. This could be another reason, why he chose to train the member of the Straw Hat Pirate during the time skip.

One Piece Fans React to Mihawk Being Afraid of Roronoa Zoro

The fans were taken aback when they learned how an epic battle would have taken place between the Roronoa Arashi and Mihawk. Moreover, when the creator mentioned how his unique style took the former Warlord by summoning the One Piece fans.

The community was curious as they shared their opinions and the theories that followed Zoro vs. Mihawk. They commented,

@DevonRodmell commented, “storm was probably the previous greatest swordsman”

@jannisk4956 commented, “He most likely was impressed as he noticed that Zoro has conquerers haki”

@yomomma9770 commented, “I read a theory that he actually broke a sweat because Mihawk has the ability with his advanced observation Haki to show someone their future like he did to Luffy at Marineford… he showed Zoro that he will defeat him / kill him and Zoro still chose to attack Mihawk with his billion fold world trichiliocosm hence him sweating because he got shaken by Zoros will / determination.. I thought this theory was awesome, wanted to share with whoever hasn’t heard it…”

@chinesehacker3156 commented, “We need more zoro and mihawk lore”

@Potato98765 commented, “I think Mihawk who has fought thousands of swordsmen in his time and beaten all of them was suprised that for the first time since he could remember he finally found someone that uses a technique he hasn’t seen or heard of so he was excited to see what the three sword style looked like.”

Though the fans were surprised to learn about this possibility taking place, they are now looking forward to the epic rematch between the two. The Pirate Hunter has become significantly stronger from last time, and he is slowly honing his skills to become the best swordsman in the world.

One Piece anime can be streamed on Crunchyroll, and the manga can be read on VIZ Media.
