Tower of God is in Desperate Need of a Spin-Off Manhwa with How Chaotic the Story has Been Getting with Its Ever Growing List of Characters

Owing to Tower of God Season 1’s popularity, the latest season received a positive response from the fanbase, despite the four-year-long delay in its release. Season 1 left fans at a cliffhanger with Rachel’s sudden betrayal, leaving Baam and viewers full of questions and frustration.

Season 2 starts with Baam joining FUG to save his friends from an unknown life-threatening danger. Baam is also portrayed as deeply traumatized by the betrayal, making several fans sympathize with his character. The once cheerful and innocent kid is now the secret weapon destined to kill Jahad, The King of the Tower.

Indeed, Tower of God generated massive excitement with its first season, and its immense impact paved the way for a grand Season 2 comeback. Although the latest installment was the series’ biggest hit, the Tower of God manhwa ultimately fell short due to its flawed plot.

Tower of God’s Downfall: How Plot Flaws Led to Its Decline

Season 2 showcases our beloved protagonist starting from scratch on the quest to climb the Tower. The Tower is divided into multiple floors, each with unique environments and challenges, governed by powerful entities known as Administrators.

Since only an irregular can kill Jahad because they are not from within the Tower, Baam aka Viole becomes the ideal candidate for FUG’s plan to execute the king. While ToG is making waves online, the same can’t be said about its manhwa which instantly led to its doom because of the flaws in its narrative and plot.

As the story progresses, ToG starts becoming more easy and starts losing its spark among the readers. Not to mention, fans claim that the story starts losing its good moments, especially during the training arc, death floor arc, and the name place arc.

Tower of God often sets up deadly scenarios, yet no characters face tragic fates, and the lore has become overcrowded with too many characters, making the story feel cluttered. The manhwa began losing fan support to the extent that Rachel, the most disliked character, ended up outshining others with the best character arc.

On top of that, the author ruins the main protagonist’s character development by reverting him to his old self. Fans start to see him as a bland character with no ambition and will of his own.

Indeed, ToG‘s downfall serves as a case study; after more than a decade, the author compromised a compelling plot by adding too many characters without providing proper conclusions, ultimately ruining the story.

Therefore, the author urgently needs to create a spinoff series for the manhwa to rescue it from the impending doom it faces. It would allow them to preserve the decade-long legacy while refining the plot, giving unnecessary characters proper endings.

Korean Webtoon Platform Shuts Down 170 Piracy Sites, Sparking Fan Reactions

Naver Webtoon’s recent actions against piracy websites have shaken the entire manga-anime industry. Reportedly, the Korean Webtoon platform has filed a DMCA subpoena request for over 170 piracy websites and is currently preparing legal action against only three big piracy sites.

The Webtoon platform’s legal action has created a lot of commotion in the manga-anime industry. Although piracy sites promote unlawful distribution, they have also introduced several fans to the lesser-known world of Korean Webtoons. Not to forget, the Webtoon platform provides a very unpleasant experience for readers, especially with its paid services charging the user for every chapter.

Naturally, within hours the news took over the entire internet, leaving fans worried about their go-to piracy sites’ future. Fans are left in a bittersweet state where supporting piracy sites seems to be the only viable option. Unfortunately, if Naver Webtoon’s legal efforts succeed, it could jeopardize the potential animation debut of popular manhwas like The Beginning After the EndThe Legend of the Northern Blade, and many others.

Tower of God can be read on Naver or Webtoons, whereas Season 2 is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
