Payne, who was a member of the iconic One Direction band, is survived by his sisters Ruth, Nicola, Geoff (father), Karen (mother), and his son, Bear. The 31-year-old singer had his son during a brief relationship with Cheryl Cole, a singer and former judge on the X-Factor.

She recently issued a statement on Payne’s untimely passing via Instagram, posting a picture of him and their son bear when he was a newborn. She described her ex-partner’s death as an “earth-shattering event”.
But the X-Factor alum specifically targeted the media in her statement, claiming that she’s heartbroken over the fact that she can’t protect her son from seeing what’s been reported since the incident. She also added,
