How to Beat Morgott, the Omen King

In addition to the numerous optional final bosses in Elden Ring, there are also several mandatory bosses to defeat. One of these mandatory bosses is Morgott, the Omen King.

You can choose from more than four weaknesses to prepare well for this fight. This enormous boss can be found in the Erdtree area, specifically at the base of this enormous tree.

The path to reach this particular mandatory boss is lengthy and filled with other bosses, but it’s crucial to continue exploring the rest of the game. This won’t be an easy battle, as this boss has deadly attacks in his arsenal. Here’s a guide on how to defeat Morgott.

Where to Find Morgott in Elden Ring?

The location of Morgott in the Elden Ring map.

To find Morgott’s location in Elden Ring, you must head to the Altus Plateau area. This boss is specifically located in Leyndell, Royal Capital. This encounter is unique in that it will provide you with access to the Mountaintops of the Giants.

Starting with the lost grace in the eastern Rampart Capital, move to the left and descend through the rooftops of the city, trying to avoid as many enemies as possible while following this path.

Dodging enemies is key since they can deal a lot of damage and complicate things before you reach the boss. As you make your way across the rooftops to reach the street, you should continue heading left. In this part of the street, you’ll encounter several enemies, and you should try to either defeat them or avoid them, which is the recommended option.

You can always climb to various platforms and beams to eliminate the enemies. Once you’ve passed by the Erdtree Avatar, continue until you find a door on the right. Just before going down a staircase, you’ll find another lost grace rest location called Avenue Balcony.

Continuing down the staircase, you’ll encounter a couple of enemies. Try to avoid them, and before moving forward, you’ll see a petrified dragon wing. You can grab a couple of items from the area and climb onto the dragon’s wing to reach its upper part.

You’ll notice that this wing has broken through the structure of what seems to be a castle wall, and you’ll need to enter through that opening.

A Path Full of Enemies to Defeat Before Facing Morgott

How to beat Morgott - Morgott intro in Elden Ring.
This boss is giant and has a ton of reach.

In this location, a staircase awaits your ascent. Continue straight, and after going up the stairs, you’ll find a long stone hallway leading upwards. Once you reach the top, continue along the hallway until you find another lost grace on the left, which not only provides a place to rest but also facilitates fast travel.

This new lost grace goes by the name of West Capital Rampart. It’s worth noting that before facing Morgott, you may have to defeat several enemies along the way to unlock the path to him. After passing the West Capital Rampart’s lost grace point, continue straight until you encounter the branches of the Erdtree.

As you ascend the branch, move to the left and make a significant upward movement. Be aware that there will be various enemies to avoid in this area.

At some point, your path will split; turn right slightly and then continue left until you reach almost the highest point of the branch. After doing this, you’ll arrive at a balcony where you’ll face a spectral version of Godfrey. Once you defeat it, you can activate the lost grace known as Erdtree Sanctuary.

Once you have rested at this lost grace, turn right and climb the branch that extends from the balcony, rather than following the stone corridor. When you reach the top of that branch, you’ll quickly find a door that you need to cross.

Continuing along the path behind that door, you’ll navigate an outdoor hallway until you come across stone stairs. Ascend these stairs to locate the final lost grace area before confronting Morgott. After resting, you’ll ascend some stairs to the base of the Erdtree, where the portal to fight Morgott awaits.

One of the most dangerous weapons he summons out of thin air is the spear, as he throws it very quickly and tries to strike down with it, dealing significant damage.

He will constantly switch between these attacks, aiming to inflict as much damage on you as possible. One item you can use twice during the fight before reducing his health by half is Margit’s Shackle. With this item, you can stun him significantly and land several hits while he’s down.

Although Melina will be of great help during this battle, make sure to also have your Spirit Ash ready to assist in combat and make things easier. Another one of Morgott’s deadliest attacks involves the sword in his right hand.

What Powerful Attacks Does This Enemy Use?

How to beat Morgott - Using the blood sword against the tarnished.
His blood sword will be lethal if it hits you.

This strange sword deals bleed damage and can deliver one of Morgott’s most lethal blows. Occasionally, he will attempt to strike you with this sword in a quick jab. If he succeeds, he will grab and throw you, likely causing you to lose more than half of your health.

Rolling to the sides or getting closer and rolling again makes most of his attacks harder to dodge. Another move you must watch out for is when he uses holy swords. Morgott will summon an X-shaped formation of holy swords that will rain down from the sky.

This is one of his longest-range attacks and easiest to dodge. The attack you should pay the most attention to is his holy hammer, as dodging it will give you a huge window to attack and deal significant damage.

This hammer will appear frequently during the fight, with Morgott attempting to land two or three consecutive blows to deal considerable damage. Without a doubt, the hardest attack to dodge is the quick jabs with the bleed sword, which he’ll attempt to grab and then throw at you.

Apart from the throwable weapons he possesses, which he’ll launch at high speed, most of his melee attacks are fairly simple to predict and not very fast. That’s why keeping your distance is key to calculating a precise strike and dealing damage to this gigantic frustrated king.
