A pedestrian in Santa Ana died after a hit-and-run crash and being hit by a subsequent driver early Sunday, Oct. 20, police said.
Officers and Orange County Fire Authority crews responded around 12:30 a.m. after a vehicle hit a pedestrian in the area of Bristol Street and Park Lane, and they found an injured man in the road, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.
Despite life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. He later was identified as 31-year-old Ralph Marin of Santa Ana.
Investigators believe he was crossing Bristol when a vehicle traveling southbound struck him and fled, police said.
After the crash, another vehicle drove over the man. That driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
No further details were available, and the investigation is ongoing. Police ask anyone with information about the hit-and-run crash to call 714-245-8208 or 714-245-8200.
