It Seems Impossible to Break Eiichiro Oda’s Records Especially After Seeing One Piece Fan Letter Easily Beat Attack on Titans Finale Rating

One Piece, Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece, was first published in 1997 as a serialized comic in Weekly Shonen Jump. The series tells the story of Monkey D. Fast forward to 2024, and the series has culminated into a global sensation that features over 1100 chapters and 1000 episodes, respectively.

The series has been a part of our lives for a long time, and this year, it celebrates its 25th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, it decided to feature a special episode in which fans learned about a newer perspective of some of their favorite characters.

However, the episode was not merely special for featuring a deeper narration about their lives, which the fans did not know till now. In fact, it merely proved why the series is the greatest series of all time, as it easily crushed the rating of Attack on Titan’s finale rating by a mile.

Attack on Titan‘s Greatness Gets Faded by Eiichiro Oda’s Narrative Masterpiece

There’s no denying that Hajime Isayama’s Shingeki no Kyojin, popularly known as Attack on Titan, is one of the greatest new-gen anime series that is surely to go down in history as an all-time classic.

The anime adaptation remains true to its source material and the outstanding voice casting by the cast adds layers to the story. This is one of the characteristics that compels the viewers to binge-watch the entire series in one sitting and is partly responsible for keeping the show so popular despite its delay.

The show’s fans would even go so far as to refer to it as the best piece of fiction ever written until the series’ conclusion split them all. Hence, the ending received an IMDb rating of 8.8/10 on IMDb, with criticism following it even in late 2024.

These problems, however, have no bearing on Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece because he has repeatedly demonstrated that he is the most reliable storyteller of all time. The manga, which has been continuing for 27 years, has kept the fans hooked to the series, which makes it the only manga to sell over 500 million copies.

It held a Guinness Book Award received back in 2015 and was confirmed again in 2022. Aside from the manga, the anime also features some of the highest-rated episodes that keep the show’s rating so high. However, the series’ true glory was witnessed during the anniversary special episode titled One Piece Fan Letter.

The episode had a duration of 30 minutes, which was great enough to destroy AOT’s finale, as the special episode brought in an IMDb rating of 9.7/10. This convinced the OP fans to believe that Oda-Sensei’s work is not just the best among The Big Three but also among the new-gen series as well.

One Piece Fans Weren’t Surprised to Surpass AOT’s Finale Rating

After the fans learned how Oda-Sensei’s greatness can’t be matched by any other series, the special episode confirmed the notion. The fans of the series took to X, where they reacted to how the mangaka’s creative genius is unmatched.

Hence, the result was declared before it was even released. They commented,

With the special episode getting a rating of 9.7/10 on IMDb, it is thrilling to see what the finale of the Grand Adventure series would be as it shows no signs of ending. Additionally, the anime has announced a 6-month hiatus to improve its animation.

Hence, making this the perfect opportunity for people to start the series so that they can finally catch up to the show, when it returns in April 2025.

One Piece can be streamed on Crunchyroll, and the manga can be read on VIZ Media.
