A major grocery chain is the latest to roll out price cuts ahead of the busy holiday season.
Aldi announced it was cutting prices so customers can purchase a full Thanksgiving meal for 10 people for less than $47 if they’re getting mostly store-brand products. The menu includes Butterball turkey with spices, gravy, rolls, macaroni and cheese and stuffing plus ingredients for cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie.
“Every day at ALDI, we are focused on finding ways to deliver the lowest possible prices for our customers – and this Thanksgiving is no different,” Jason Hart, CEO, ALDI, said in a statement. “With 25% of U.S households now shopping ALDI, we know grocery prices are still top of mind for customers.”
The Illinois-based chain pointed to reports that show grocery prices are up 50% as compared to 2019, changes that have cut into shopper’s budgets and forced retails to promote more deals.
Slashing prices ahead of Thanksgiving has been a trend in recent years. Walmart recently announced it was offering a 29-item meal to serve eight people for less than $7 per person. Walmart is also allowing customers to purchase a Thanksgiving meal for someone else online with a complete dinner being sent to their door or for pickup at a local store.
