The second phase of the final saga in One Piece, the Elbaph arc, is bound to be beneficial for at least one of the Straw Hat Pirates. And this Straw Hat Pirate is none other than Usopp, the sniper of the crew. Usopp has been linked with the ongoing arc since the beginning of the series, and many fans have speculated that this is the place where he will finally power up.
However, as the arc has only recently started, fans don’t know much about the mysterious place and how it will benefit Usopp. But according to a recent theory, Usopp’s role in Elbaph might be more than just getting a power upgrade. There is a chance that he might be crucial to saving Elbaph from the alleged villain, the accursed prince, Loki.
The One Piece theory states that Usopp will be the one who will counter Loki’s tricks and help Elbaph liberate from his terror, which will help him achieve his dream of becoming the brave warrior of the sea.
Loki’s Alleged Powers in One Piece
Popular One Piece fan page @writingpanini recently posted a theory on X discussing what could be Loki’s abilities and how Usopp will be involved in the action. The theory states that if Oda had followed his normal procedure and based Loki’s character on the actual Norse god Loki, then his powers and abilities would also be like him.
In Norse mythology, Loki is the trickster God, who can trick people using shapeshifting, creating illusions, using magic, etc. Thus, Loki from One Piece will most likely also have similar powers that he attained after eating the legendary Devil Fruit that was passed down the royal line of Elbaph.
According to the theory, his Devil Fruit abilities of trickery are most likely used through his eyes, which is why his eyes were specially bandaged in the manga panel. While trickery is a weird one, it potentially has the power to subdue the Giants of Elbaph, leading to Loki being declared the strongest Giant in the One Piece world.
Usopp’s Probable Role in Defeating Loki
In the One Piece narrative, Usopp is one of the few characters who has the power to see through tricks, lies, and illusions. This is because he himself has been the most proficient in it since the start. Usopp’s entire persona is based around a cowardly character who “tricks” his way to success against his opponents. This was also how he earned the title of God Usopp.
Thus, if the above-mentioned theory holds any credence, then Loki’s most viable opponent in Elbaph would be Usopp. The two will probably face each other in a battle of manipulation or trickery, which will not only add a comedic element to the One Piece plot but also enhance Usopp’s role in the series.
While there are still a lot of plotholes in the assumption, almost every element of the recent One Piece chapters points towards this. Things will get clearer once Eiichiro Oda reveals Loki’s powers or the legendary Devil Fruit that he stole after killing his father.
