Tractor-trailer driver charged in alleged I-95 road rage

A tractor-trailer driver accused of pointing a gun at another vehicle on Interstate 95 was arrested last week following the alleged road rage incident, police said.

Troop G in Bridgeport received a 911 call at 6 p.m. last Friday from an individual alleging that the driver of a white tractor-trailer brandished a firearm at them while traveling southbound on I-95 in Bridgeport, according to the Connecticut State Police.

The caller alleged that the truck was approaching Exit 22 at the time of the incident and gave a description of a decal they reportedly saw on the back of the truck, state police said.

Responding troopers located a tractor-trailer matching the caller’s description that had a Tennessee registration plate. As the tractor-trailer approached Exit 17 on I-95, the trooper initiated a traffic stop, according to state police.

The driver, identified as 23-year-old Kelvin Abreudy Segura Tejada of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, pulled over to the right shoulder, where he was directed out of the truck and placed in handcuffs, state police said.

According to state police, Tejada allegedly admitted to being involved in an incident with another driver but denied pointing a firearm at them. He allegedly reported that there was a handgun inside the truck by the driver’s side door, state police said.

Troopers searched the truck and reported found a loaded handgun, which was seized along with the ammunition, according to state police.

State police said Troop G dispatch personnel “contacted the Pennsylvania State Police, who confirmed that Tejada has no registered weapons and does not possess a pistol permit.”

Tejada was arrested and charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree threatening/displaying a firearm, second-degree breach of peace and negligent storage of a firearm, state police said.

Tejada is free on a $10,000 cash/surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Bridgeport Superior Court on Nov. 18, according to state police.
