Who's running for Austin City Council District 2?

AUSTIN (KXAN) — There are two people running for Austin City Council District 2, including Vanessa Fuentes, the woman currently in the seat.

Who's running for Austin City Council District 2?

The candidates are listed in the order that they will appear on the ballot.

Vanessa Fuentes

Council Member Vanessa Fuentes

Austin City Council Member Vanessa Fuentes officially announced she is running for reelection.

“She has led on issues including raising the minimum wage to $20 for city workers, expanding paid parental leave to 12 weeks for city workers, and expanding access to full-day Pre-K in Del Valle ISD,” her campaign website said.

Fuentes beat out two other candidates in 2020 to fill the seat previously held by now-Travis County Attorney Delia Garza. Before serving on the council, Fuentes was a community health advocate with the American Heart Association.

Robert Reynolds

Reynolds filed to challenge Fuentes on July 29. His application for a place on the ballot says he is an “instructor.” He does not yet appear to have a campaign website with information on his policies and experience.

This November, there are five city council seats up for grabs: Districts 2, 4, 6, 7 and 10. You can find your district in the map below:
