Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe and former Crimson Tide center Seth McLaughlin are among 16 finalists for the 2024 William V. Campbell Trophy, given annually to the top scholar-athlete in college football.
As finalists for the Campbell Trophy — AKA the “Academic Heisman,” Milroe and McLaughlin will each receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship. The winner of the award, which will be announced in December, receives a $25,000 postgraduate scholarship.
“We are thrilled to announce this year’s finalists for the Campbell Trophy,” National Football Foundation chairman Archie Manning said. “These exceptional young men embody an unwavering commitment to excellence in all areas of their lives, from the classroom to the football field. They truly represent the best of college football, and we know they have only begun to reach their potential.”
Milroe, a native of Katy, Texas, carries a 3.52 grade-point average in management. McLaughlin, a Buford, Ga., native who transferred to Ohio State from Alabama at the end of the 2023 season, has a 4.0 GPA in finance.

Past winner of the Campbell Trophy include Auburn/Oregon quarterback Bo Nix (2023), Alabama offensive lineman Barrett Jones (2012), Florida quarterback Tim Tebow (2009) and Tennessee quarterback Peyton Manning (1997).
