Cristin Milioti’s Performance in The Penguin is Making Me Mad Because It Reminds Me of the Most Royal Fumble in TV History

Cristin Milioti’s performance in The Penguin’s driving me crazy, and not in a good way. Every time she absolutely nails a scene, it takes me back to one of the biggest TV letdowns ever. I just can’t help but think about how her incredible talent was once wasted in a role that had so much potential, only to be completely fumbled by the end.

Watching her shine now just reminds me of that disappointment all over again. It’s like seeing what could’ve been if her character had gotten the treatment it deserved instead of being sidelined in the worst way. Honestly, it’s bittersweet—because she’s phenomenal, but man, what a royal fumble that was!

Cristin Milioti’s The Penguin Performance Has Me Rethinking the How I Met Your Mother Fiasco

Cristin Milioti’s performance in The Penguin has me fired up—and not for the reasons you might think. Don’t get me wrong, though. She’s incredible and definitely on track to snag an Emmy. But this role’s just reminding me of a colossal mistake from TV history, specifically the ending of How I Met Your Mother.

From the jump, Milioti steals every scene as Sofia Falcone—totally unpredictable, vicious, and ready to throw down. Sure, Colin Farrell’s Oz gives us that gritty mobster energy—but it’s Milioti’s cold, calculated rise to mafia queen that’s got me hooked. Farrell’s Penguin is all chaos, but Milioti’s quiet, creeping menace? That’s what really sticks with you. The Penguin might have Farrell front and center, but let’s be real—Milioti’s the one running the show.

But if you think this is the first time you’ve seen how talented she is, you’re sorely mistaken. She was fantastic in Palm Springs and brilliant in The Resort—a show I feel like I was the only one who watched.

Her mesmerizing performance in The Penguin just highlights how badly they fumbled Ted’s story in How I Met Your Mother. The entire series revolved around Ted finding his wife, and Milioti’s character was finally the answer. Instead of developing her character over a few seasons to showcase her talent, the makers rushed everything into three episodes.

I still can’t shake the frustration over how that show ended. Killing off his wife just for Ted to end up with someone else? Seriously? If they’d built up Cristin’s character and let us connect with her, maybe the hospital scene would’ve had some emotional weight.

Anyway, go get that Emmy, queen. You deserve it!

Cristin Milioti dropped a killer performance in The Penguin, and fans are going off (me included). Not only are they raving about her role, but they’re also throwing shade at How I Met Your Mother for its finale fumble.

It’s like, why didn’t they give her more to work with back then? But no worries—Cristin Milioti’s absolutely crushing it now, and fans are here for it.
