One person was airlifted to the hospital following a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian on Route 2 in Colchester on Tuesday night.
State troopers responded to Route 2 West in the area of Exit 17 just before 7:20 p.m. on the report of a car versus pedestrian crash, according to Connecticut State Police.
State police said they believe a dark blue Jeep Cherokee evaded the scene following the collision. The vehicle is believed to have damage to its passenger side mirror and door handle.
The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was flown via LifeStar to an area hospital, according to state police.
The state police C.A.R.S. Unit responded to the scene to investigate the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
The highway was shut down while crews were at the scene.
