Eminem has never hesitated to call out some of the biggest celebrities in his raps. However, Sean Combs aka P. Diddy has been a recurring subject of his fiery verses for over two decades. But Slim Shady shook the music industry when he linked Combs to the controversial death of 2Pac in his 2018 track Killshot.
In the 90s, the world of rap was undergoing a disturbing time as the East Coast-West Coast feud was at its peak with Sean Combs and Suge Knight leading the two fronts. The violent atmosphere ultimately led to the two tragic deaths of 2Pac and The Notorious B.I.G.
Multiple theories and reports have linked the controversial death of Tupac Shakur aka 2Pac to P. Diddy. The rumors gained more weight when 2Pac’s accused killer Duane “Keefe D” Davis also asserted that Diddy allegedly put a million-dollar bounty on the heads of the Juice actor and Suge Knight.
Eminem believes P.Diddy to be allegedly involved in 2Pac’s death
As reported by ABC News, Tupac Shakur was shot four times in his car on September 7, 1996. West Coast hip hop lost one of its greatest heroes as the rapper succumbed to his injuries six days later on September 13 at the age of 25. After running a long investigation for many years, Duane “Keefe D” Davis, the last living suspect in the case was finally arrested by the police in September 2023 on the charge of murder (via Associated Press).
Although the accused Davis has pled not guilty (via NPR) and asserted that P. Diddy was involved in 2Pac’s murder, the 54-year-old never accepted the claims. Interestingly, Eminem also blamed Diddy for the tragic incident. In his 2018 track Killshot, a diss track on Machine Gun Kelly, Slim Shady said:
While Eminem had been mentioning Diddy in his songs from the 90s, the fans found these verses more serious for the shocking connection to the late Life Goes On rapper. But surprisingly, the Houdini hitmaker concluded his track by clarifying- “And I’m just playin’, Diddy / You know I love you.”
Nonetheless, it was not the end as Eminem continued his shots at Sean Combs in his latest album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), released in July of this year. In the track Fuel – Shady Edition from the album, the 52-year-old wrote some interesting lines:
The track Antichrist from the same album also alludes to the leaked footage featuring Diddy assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. The leaked clip generated a massive buzz among netizens as it proved the allegations made against him by Ventura.
Diddy’s family will stand by him despite everything
Sean “Diddy” Combs became the center of public scrutiny and media attention after he was arrested on charges of racketeering, s*x trafficking, and transportation to engage in pr*stitution. Additionally, he is also subjected to over 120 lawsuits.
Despite the severity of the allegations, Combs’ children have decided to publicly support the disgraced mogul. Recently, they made an Instagram post stating that the family is going through a tough phase but refusing to believe everything out there on the internet. The caption read:
Although Diddy’s children are sure that the internet is filled with “false narratives“, the court denied him bail twice. The allegations are disturbing, and severe, and may lead to more serious repercussions for Sean Combs. Currently, he is at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn and is awaiting his trial, which is set to start on May 5, 2025.
