UFC’s biggest star, Conor McGregor, who was cast as characters in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and a Hitman DLC earlier this year, is considering creating his own action game, which, with the correct developer and studio, could one day compete with EA Sports UFC.
Throughout his career, McGregor has competed in mixed martial arts (MMA) and boxing once. His love for bare-knuckle boxing has elevated BKFC as a co-owner of the business and possibly as a fighter in the future. In the meantime, McGregor is fulfilling his role as a promoter by stating that a video game about BKFC is being developed after he appeared in the virtual worlds of Call of Duty and UFC 5.
Conor McGregor Confirmed New Bare-Knuckle Boxing Video Game
The former UFC fighter and current co-owner of BKFC, has confirmed that a new video game about bare-knuckle boxing is currently being developed. Due to his affiliations with EA Sports, McGregor has participated in several UFC titles over the years.
However, he recently became a co-owner and investor in the American boxing promotion Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship or BKFC. The Irish fighter announced this news via a tweet:
The Fight Night Champion franchise also had a Bare Knuckle mode, which is exactly what we are going to see in the upcoming BKFC title.For years, fans have been pleading with EA Sports to bring back the Fight Night franchise, but the studio has stuck to its plan of releasing new UFC games every two years.
Finding a development studio took some time, but the UFC finally chose EA Sports to create its first game in 2014. Since then, the company has released four sequels, the most recent of which is EA Sports UFC 5 in 2023. Now, it seems fans will get what they have been wanting for so long.
McGregor’s Game Can Pose Serious Problems to EA Sports UFC and Other Boxing Titles
There seems to be a continuous resurgence in boxing games, so if the next bare-knuckle boxing video game isn’t just a mobile game, it will face some fierce competition. Even though it includes more than just boxing, there are rumors that EA has already started work on EA Sports UFC 6, with a 2025 release window as the studio’s goal. Before that, EA needs to fix its UFC 5 first.
Due to Undisputed’s mixed reviews, many boxing fans are turning to the newest EA Sports UFC titles to satisfy their cravings because for them, just playing the game’s stand-up mode is the equivalent of playing a modern boxing game.
Undisputed, the first big boxing game since Fight Night Champion, is obviously in need of a lot of work. However, it might be the most competitive game for McGregor’s bare-knuckle game if developer Steel City Interactive keeps an ear out for fan feedback and makes improvements.
Furthermore, fans may be experiencing a severe shortage of boxing titles due to market saturation, as there are rumors that EA has also resumed development on a new Fight Night game.
