Swiss Army Documents Go Digital Through Mobile App

Swiss Army members can now access important documents and submit leave requests through the mobile app DIM Wallet.

With DIM Wallet, army personnel can receive marching orders and leave passes even without an internet connection, reducing the need to print paper documents and allowing them to obtain what they need without delay.

Military police, security personnel, and military facility inspectors can also use the app without registering, enabling them to validate QR codes.

In terms of security and data protection, the QR codes feature digital signatures to prevent forgery. Additionally, the app does not store any data on mobile devices.

The app has been available since early October of this year, according to the Swiss defense ministry.

Army personnel using DIM Wallet can also link it to SwissPass, which is used for identification and public transport services, making it easier to access public transport tickets included in their marching orders.

This move toward digitalization in the Swiss military is part of a broader trend to streamline administrative tasks for greater operational efficiency, similar to Ukraine’s digital system that simplifies and expedites the delivery of supplies to military units.
