Indeed, anime is a treat for alien and occult fans, and much of its growing popularity is driven by these enthusiasts. Yukinobu Tatsu introduces viewers to two main lead characters, Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura, dealing with supernatural and alien threats. With over 170 chapters, anime viewers can relax and anticipate the thrilling arcs to come, featuring new antagonists and allies.

Among all such bizarreness comes the Kur, a group of alien globalists with a terrifying origin story that proved to be a significant challenge for Okarun and Momo.

The Most Terrifying Alien Force Is Set to Make Its Appearance in Dadadan

Dandadan has built up incredible hype over the past few months, becoming one of the most eagerly anticipated anime of the year. Unlike most anime that spend an episode or two explaining the backstory or its characters’ motivations, Dandadan takes a different approach with its brisk pace that prioritizes getting straight to the big moments.

With most characters already introduced in the anime, manga readers are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the most sinister alien force, whose origin story is the darkest of all. The most formidable alien adversary the main cast has faced so far, the Kur is a group of alien globalists that travel through space in search of planets to conquer.

The alien group resembles soft, octopus-like creatures in their natural form; however, they heavily rely on their exosuits, which are advanced outer-space technology that greatly enhance the wielder’s combat capabilities.

The advanced exosuits help the Kur to survive the hostile atmosphere of other planets and devastate their opponents in battle. Among all the alien devices introduced in the series, the exosuits are undoubtedly the most powerful.

Their abilities range from combat-oriented suits of armor to invisibility to advanced space manipulation. However, unlike most alien technology, the exosuits are not manufactured; they are formed from living organisms by an alien species called Big Mama.

Interestingly, the quality of a lifeform a Big Mama consumes factors into a suit’s capabilities, with those who possess strong and unique qualities having the potential to be converted into powerful suits. Moreover, the traits of a suit can also be shaped by the intense emotions of the lifeform consumed during its last moments.

In Dandadan, the powers of the exosuits extend beyond anything seen in the manga, allowing the wearer to overpower humans with supernatural abilities and assist in conquering planets. Besides enhancing the wielder’s combat abilities, it also keeps the Kur race alive in the harsh environment of foreign planets where gravity differs.

Unveiling the Evil Eye: Mysterious Backstory

Tatsu brought the Evil Eye into the spotlight early in the series as a formidable antagonist. The Evil Eye was a Yokai who was bound to the Tsuchinoko sacrificial house, who possessed Jiji and decided to eradicate all the humans it came across.

Jiji Enjoji, Momo’s childhood friend, unknowingly lived in a house tied to a giant earthworm monster, where a family secretly sacrificed people for two centuries to keep a nearby volcano dormant. Originally, the Evil Eye was a young boy whose entire life was spent in solitude and captivity just to end up being sacrificed to the volcano.

In Dandadan, the Evil Eye is a malevolent spirit that forces anyone who makes eye contact with it to commit suicide, making it similar to the Tsuchinoko. While the Evil Eye was protecting Jiji from the psychic waves of the Tsuchinoko, the Yokai ultimately wanted to possess Jiji, who had immense spiritual energy and athleticism.

The Evil Eye was introduced as a formidable rival to Okarun, who was a very capable hand-to-hand combatant, skilled enough to take on powerful opponents. However, after becoming friends with Okarun through an exchange of fights, the evil spirit decides to target the boy and become less of a threat to the main cast.

The Evil Eye gradually transitions from an antagonist to a supportive role, captivating readers with his development.

Dandadan is available to stream on Netflix and Crunchyroll
