Actor Misha Collins is best known for his role as the angel Castiel in the hit fantasy drama series Supernatural. However, before finding fame as an actor, Collins was on a completely different career path that led him to flirt with illegal activities. Collins did a brief internship at the White House, where he could not abstain from stealing.
During an appearance at a fan convention, Collins opened up about his life before acting and talked about his internship at the White House. What is more surprising is that the actor also admitted to stealing security passes from one of the most highly guarded facilities in the world. Here is what Collins had to say about the experience.
Supernatural Star Misha Collins Reflected on His Internship at the White House
Misha Collins made his acting debut in 1998, before tasting fame for his role as Castiel in Supernatural. However, shortly before turning to acting, Collins completed his degree in social theory from the University of Chicago, followed by an internship at the White House.
During an appearance at a fan convention, Collins spoke about his experience of interning at the White House. However, the actor revealed a story that almost no Castiel fan would have expected from him. Collins stated the following about his four-month internship.
When you go out—if you go out for lunch or whatever—you drop the pass in a box. Every day I would pretend to drop my pass in the box and [then] stash my pass.
The statement makes it evident that Collins admitted to stealing from the White House by breaking one of the rules he was supposed to follow during his internship.
Collins added that by the time he finished his stint at the White House, he had amassed a large stash of passes to the establishment. However, in an Instagram post, Collins admitted that his internship left him disillusioned, leading to him leaving politics and pursuing acting.

Collins was an intern at the White House during the term of former President Bill Clinton. The latter’s tenure was marked by a scandal that came to light in 1998. Clinton faced allegations of sexual contact with an intern Monica Lewinsky with their alleged affair lasting from 1995 to 1997.
Meanwhile, Collins’ internship at the White House ended shortly before Lewinsky’s arrival. However, the actor published an article for the Baltimore Sun, under his real name Dmitri Krushnic, and blasted the PR campaign against Lewinsky which was meant to tarnish her image.
If Monica Lewinsky had not seemed like a star-struck, infatuated stalker who hung around the West Wing every chance she got, then it would be fair to say her behavior in the White House was suspicious.
Collins wrote the above, along with examples of incidents he had witnessed at the White House, where interns went out of their way to catch a mere glimpse of the then-Preisdent Clinton.
In his article, Collins also commented on the wave of eccentricity around Clinton, which led to several administrative staff members being starstruck with the former President. However, Collins admitted that contributed to a fulfilling working environment at the White House.
