Ryan Reynolds. Josh Brolin. Zazie Beets and a ton of se*ual jokes and gore. Deadpool 2 was a wild ride from start to finish. However, it was Sandra Bullock’s 2009 film that made the iconic collaboration happen!
Destiny can be a funny thing. You end up in life where you were supposed to end up however, the path can differ. For Josh Brolin (and the world), no one knew that he would go on to play Cable in Deadpool 2 and yet, here we are.
How Sandra Bullock Was Responsible For Deadpool 2
No, she was not associated with the film. Yes, she is partly responsible for how Josh Brolin ended up on the sets of Deadpool 2 to star alongside Ryan Reynolds.
It was the year 2009 when Sandra Bullock starred in a film called The Proposal. Directed by Anne Fletcher, the film starred Bullock alongside Ryan Reynolds in leading roles.
Although it didn’t receive great ratings, The Proposal was a commercial success as the film found worldwide fame. Well, Josh Brolin was one of the fans of the film, and in his interview with Entertainment Weekly (via WGTC) talked about the film.
I was a secret fan of The Proposal, having watched it several times by myself. I told Ryan. I was like, ‘I don’t know why this is, and I don’t know what this means psychologically, behaviorally, emotionally, but I have kind of a crush on you.
As can be seen from the on-screen chemistry of Cable and Deadpool, Josh Brolin might just be joking about being a fan of the movie. Using sarcasm as his choice of words, Brolin might not be a fan of the movie at all.
At least, that’s what Deadpool & Wolverine star Ryan Reynolds felt when he was asked about his side of the tale. Although it has been seen that Deadpool becomes a fan of all these other superheroes, real life seems to be quite different.
Ryan Reynolds is Confused Between Josh Brolin’s Compliment & Sarcasm
To put it quite plain and simple, Ryan Reynolds doesn’t buy it. His and Brolin’s on-screen banter might not be just a facade as Reynolds and the Sicario actor are like that in real life.
As the interview further continued, Reynolds revealed (via WGTC) that he doesn’t buy Brolin’s facade even for a second. The actor joked about how Brolin’s heart is made out of stone and that he cannot believe that deep down is a “little angel who loves comedies”.
He’s mentioned it many times, which is weird to me because he’s so tough. I would just never imagine that. Like, he pretends he’s, like, all sort of New Age-y sometimes and all this stuff, but deep down inside I just think his heart is made of some, like, jagged chunk of Yosemite granite.
Reynolds further continued,
I don’t buy that underneath all this textured skin is a sweet little angel that loves romantic comedies. I don’t buy it. Not for a second.
Ergo, if it wasn’t for Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds’ 2009 film, the world would not have seen Josh Brolin and Reynolds pair up in Deadpool 2. Of course, the film received amazing reviews and critical acclaim.
The Josh Brolin and Ryan Reynolds starrer received a rating of 7.6/10 on IMDB and a whopping 84% on Rotten Tomatoes. The 2018 film is available to stream on Disney+ in the U.S.
