Recently, the involvement of Harry Styles has emerged as a significant factor in their dynamic, potentially serving as the tipping point in a long-standing rift!

Harry Styles Made Stevie Nicks Realize She Couldn’t Be with Lindsey Buckingham

The breaking point in Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham’s professional relationship hit unexpectedly during a MusiCares benefit concert. Nicks had planned to perform a song for him, but when he was cold not just to her but to everyone, including Harry Styles, it became crystal clear.

At that moment, she recognized it was time to leave him behind for good. In a Rolling Stone interview, she explained the whole situation, she said,

It happened one night, not planned, at a MusiCares [benefit concert]. I didn’t even tell anybody it had happened in my head until the whole ceremony was over.  I took with me that night a song that I had done with LeAnn Rimes called “Borrowed.”

That’s when he wasn’t very nice to anybody; he wasn’t very nice to Harry Styles. I could hear my mom saying, “Are you really going to spend the next 15 years of your life with this man?” I could hear my very pragmatic father — and by the way, my mom and dad liked Lindsey a lot — saying, “It’s time for you guys to get a divorce.” Between those two, I said, “I’m done.”

This all unfolded in 2018 after the band played without Buckingham for quite a while but stopped eventually in 2019, but over the following years, many wondered if the two would ever reconcile, and come back for one final tour. However, in the same Rolling Stones interview, Nicks made it clear there would be no farewell tour after all and after the death of Christine McVie’s death, it is most likely the band will never play again…

How It All Started Between Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks

After college, Lindsay Buckingham dove into the music scene with a band called Fritz, and that is when he met with Nicks and recruited her to join the band in 1967. Together, they carved out a niche, and that is when things changed. The pair started to date.

In 1973, the duo signed with Polydor Records and released their debut album, Buckingham Nicks. While the album didn’t set the charts ablaze, one song, Frozen Love, caught the ear of Mick Fleetwood. Intrigued, he invited Buckingham to join Fleetwood Mac, but there was a catch, Buckingham would only join if Nicks came along too.

Once in Fleetwood Mac, the pair initially thrived professionally, even as their romantic relationship fizzled out. Together they gave hits like Landslide. Their chemistry on stage was undeniable, but behind the scenes, the complexities of their history began to take their toll.

After years of navigating the highs and lows, everything came to a head in 2018, marking the end of an era for the iconic duo.
