While visiting the On Air with Ryan Seacrest show, television star Joan Vassos shared what she’s trying to accomplish in The Golden Bachelorette, and her answer is quite interesting to hear because it shows how much she has learned throughout her stay in the franchise.
Traditionally, they try to go for an engagement, maybe, but I’d like not necessarily have to be engaged. I would just wanna find a person that I wanna pursue outside of The Bachelor bubble.
Vassos definitely wants to meet the person she wants to be with, but also wishes to have the privacy and privilege to get to know them better without the camera and the attention of the fans. In the same conversation, she noted how hometown episodes are very important because they give them a glimpse of each other’s lives and help them decide if they can see a future with the other person.
The difference between dating as a young person and as someone older, according to Vassos, is that the former is still trying to figure out how to build a life. The latter, on the other hand, has already established one, and it includes a family that also consists of children and grandchildren.
She added that her interactions with her potential partner’s family are also factors that will help her decide if she could live in the same environment. Her choice to pursue a relationship outside of the show truly makes a lot of sense.
Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s Marriage Suffered Due to Complicated Living Situation
Fans can see that Vassos is taking extra cautious steps so as not to make the same error that Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist did that led to their divorce. After three months of marriage, the ex-couple realized their relationship was not working.
Nist notably accepted Turner’s proposal during the epic finale of The Golden Bachelor, and later on held a highly publicized wedding. The 73-year-old reality star told Good Morning America: “We’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage.”
Evidently, the ex-couple was not able to get to know each other’s background and living situation really well. Vassos was indeed making the right choice for herself.
