Kalen DeBoer: Cole Adams could miss time for Alabama with ‘lower-extremity’ injury

Kalen DeBoer: Cole Adams could miss time for Alabama with ‘lower-extremity’ injury

Alabama football suffered a hit to its wide receiver and special teams units on Saturday, when Cole Adams left with an injury during the Crimson Tide’s 34-0 win over Missouri. Adams was helped off the field, putting no pressure on his left leg.

Adams later returned to the sideline on crutches, with what appeared to be a cast on his left foot. After the game, Kalen DeBoer did not sound especially optimistic about Adams’ status.

“Lower extremity,” DeBoer said. “Probably going to be some more evaluation, feels like it’s going to be something that might be a little bit of time where he’ll be missed.”

DeBoer said Alabama should have more information Monday about the injury. Adams, who is Alabama’s primary punt returner in addition to his contributions at wide receiver, missed time early in the year with an arm injury.

Adams has four catches for 77 yards so far this season. The redshirt freshman has 58 yards on 11 punt returns as well.

Alabama got off to a slow start offensively Saturday, but its defense played its best game of the season, stifling any chance Missouri had of getting in the game. The offense came on late, led by an improved run game, pulling away from the Tigers and moving to 6-2 on the season, 3-2 in SEC play.

The Crimson Tide will have a week off before returning to action. Alabama next plays at LSU on Nov. 9.
