Black Ops 6 Has Already Disappointed Trophy Hunters In a Major Way

Black Ops 6 is now available on store shelves and the gaming community did not waste a second diving into the single-player story mode. The iconic gaming franchise has made a name for itself after the fast-paced action and the few trophies or achievements that are almost impossible to unlock.

Trophy hunters live for these challenging achievements and revel after unlocking trophies that a rare few have. Players would celebrate with having the platinum trophy representing their hard work and dedication.

Unfortunately, the game developers withheld that feeling of accomplishment for this year’s installment, and trophy hunters expressed their profound disappointment.

The Lack of a Platinum Trophy On the PlayStation 5 Version of Black Ops 6 Is Disturbing

The gaming community has been waiting for the day for the game developers to steer the Call of Duty franchise back on track. After the shortcomings and lackluster story mode of recent entries like Modern Warfare 3, Raven Software and Treyarch locked in and gave the player base one of the best campaigns they have experienced in years.

It may not be a full paradox like Sparking Zero, however, the way this situation escalated from bad to worse is uncanny. It appears that Black Ops 6 does have a platinum trophy; however, it is locked behind the PlayStation 4 version while the trophy list for the current generation version is listed as a DLC for Modern Warfare 2 similar to what happened to Modern Warfare 3.

The platinum trophy is the ultimate symbol of accomplishment, and not having that on the current-generation version of the game is baffling. Everything that has happened since the launch of Call of Duty HQ has become a convoluted mess with no benefits.

Committed trophy hunters would have turned the game upside down to unlock every last trophy and get the platinum, and unlocking trophies may not mean much to the average player, this has become a long-running tradition that was ruined by the dedicated launcher called Call of Duty HQ.

Rather than helping the franchise grow and instill a sense of semblance and seamless transitions from one game to another, this system caused more harm than good.

Trophies can convince the player base to keep coming back even after wrapping up the single-player campaign. Some trophies require a bit more finesse and effort

The cinematics of this year’s installment were reportedly leaked online two months before the release, and this is arguably the most famous blunder the launcher experienced.

Call of Duty Trophy Hunters Will Have to Get Used to the Norm

Initially, the gaming community viewed the previous generation versions of the latest Call of Duty game as the inferior version without all the bells and whistles the PlayStation 5 has to offer like haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and whatnot. However, it may be the only way for trophy hunters to get the platinum trophy.

It may be holding back the game developers to craft a true next-gen game, but it has its perks in this situation. These games deserve to have their standalone trophy lists with a platinum trophy, without the need to be hidden behind the shadows of other titles.

The PlayStation 5 was released four years ago while most game developers still offer a PlayStation 4 version for obvious reasons. Not everyone is ready to move on from the past, especially with endless ports on older hardware. Perhaps it is time for Activision to make a stand on when to stop supporting older consoles to prevent game developers from being held back.

Trophy hunting has nurtured generations of gamers to strive for something greater. While most trophies are straightforward and can be unlocked naturally through story progression, some trophies can be unlocked after great trials that will put a player’s skill to the test. These trophies encourage players to try harder and accomplish impressive feats leading to wholesome memories.

An argument can be made that the PlayStation 4 version is to blame for this mishap and all future entries being made from the ground up for the PlayStation 5 may have a platinum trophy; however, the game developers seem to be interested in using the HQ launcher app. The idea of the launcher was meant to be a seamless experience for the player base but it gave them the opposite entirely.

From a business standpoint, it would make sense for the publisher to release the game on any console available for a much larger revenue stream. Players with an active Xbox Game Pass subscription were in for a treat since they were first in line to play Black Ops 6 on day one.

These are confusing times, and some players would love to reminisce about the days of playing a game and grinding to unlock the platinum. The irony is that this year’s Call of Duty is a step up from the quality of previous entries; however, the trophy system is still an absolute mess.

Players can’t get the best of both worlds, but it wouldn’t hurt to keep hoping when the time comes for a new entry to be released with a dedicated trophy list and the platinum.
