Former Alabama cornerback returns from injured reserve with Ravens in a bind

The Baltimore Ravens restored cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis to their active roster on Saturday after he spent the previous four games on injured reserve because of hamstring ailment.

The former St. Paul’s Episcopal and Alabama standout’s return is just in time for the Ravens. First-round cornerback Nate Wiggins will miss Baltimore’s game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday because of a shoulder injury.

Former Hoover and Alabama standout Marlon Humphrey left the Ravens’ previous game with a knee injury, and the Pro Bowl cornerback’s status for Sunday’s contest is listed as doubtful.

Armour-Davis was among the eight players from Alabama high schools and colleges who became eligible to play in Sunday NFL games after Saturday transactions.

He wasn’t the only Alabama alumnus to go from injured reserve to an active roster on Saturday: The Miami Dolphins activated quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Denver Broncos linebacker Kwon Alexander (Oxford), San Francisco 49ers kicker Anders Carlson (Auburn) and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Josh Jobe (Alabama) made their 2024 season debuts last week as practice-squad elevations and played starting roles. They have been elevated to active status again for Sunday games.

Jobe played 65 snaps in Seattle’s secondary in a 34-14 victory over the Atlanta Falcons, Alexander played 21 snaps in Denver’s 33-10 victory over the New Orleans Saints, and Carlson made two field goals, including a 55-yarder, in San Francisco’s 28-18 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

On Sunday, the Seahawks play the Buffalo Bills, the Broncos play the Carolina Panthers and the 49ers play the Dallas Cowboys.

Each NFL team is allowed to elevate two practice-squad players to active status for each game.
