Space Marine 2 Has Confirmed 4 Player Co-op Won’t Happen as It Makes the Game “Too Easy”: We Have a Solution

With more than a decade between the debut of the first Warhammer 40k: Space Marine game and its sequel, Space Marine 2, gamers’ concerns regarding the title were entirely valid. The title’s development was then in the hands of a completely new studio, Saber Interactive, rather than Reliec Entertainment.

Thankfully, all the worries seem to be completely unfounded, as Space Marine 2 has shattered all records. The game has set a new benchmark for the franchise, and fans have labeled it as a worthy successor to the original game. Despite the game’s success, it’s under fire for limiting co-op to just three players. While the developers have their reasons, we have the perfect solution to satisfy the fanbase.

The Solution For Space Marine 2‘s 3-Player Co-Op Problem

Space Marine 2 is undoubtedly one of the most content-rich single-player titles of all time, and it also doubles as an incredible co-op adventure. While it’s an incredible experience to witness Titus’ journey with your friends, the three-player team size is quite unusual.

While chatting with PC Gamer, Saber’s developers explained the reasoning behind this decision. According to the developers, Astrates are simply too powerful; adding a fourth member to the game’s co-op mode would’ve made it “too easy” and made it a nightmare to balance the game.

The reason why Saber found Space Marine 2‘s co-op quite challenging with bigger teams is all due to the fact that individual Space Marines are extremely powerful. In the game’s universe, Space Marines are considered to be the pinnacle of strength that Imperium can field. These soldiers are almost invincible and a force to be reckoned with.

Co-op missions with larger teams were believed to be an extreme “massacre,” with four players absolutely crushing anything that stood in their way. This is why Saber locked on three members as the right number.

Saber’s reasoning for limiting the game’s co-op to three players does make sense. However, there’s an easy solution for this problem: just increase the number of players in a team and make the missions quite literally impossible to complete.

Keeping into account the invisibility of Space Marines, Saber could always bring us foes that test our absolute limits and require even bigger teams to take down.

Gamers would rather enjoy fighting hand in hand with their fellow comrades instead of sitting on the sidelines just because of co-op player limitations. It’s an easy solution that Saber can definitely bring with one of the upcoming updates for Space Marine 2.

The upcoming updates have been a source of excitement for Space Marine 2 players. Gamers are hyped to dig into the new Operations map as well as experience the latest fixes and improvements. However, the game’s recent update has made things too difficult. As a result, Space Marine 2 has suffered from review bombing yet again.

The title’s publisher, Focus Entertainment, took it to X/Twitter and apologized for the frustrations due to the latest update for Space Marine 2. Saber has already reverted the changes to the recent update. It’s clear that Saber and Focus are actively listening to the community and valuing their feedback.

Gamers praise Focus and Saber for quickly acknowledging the issue and turning them around, bashing Arrowhead for not following the same tactics as Helldivers 2. If you’re unaware, Helldivers 2 has received massive community backlash in recent months over various nerfs, which made it a nightmare to experience.

By taking criticism and bringing instant changes, Space Marine 2 is clearly avoiding falling into the same trap as Helldivers 2. Let’s hope Saber can continue this momentum and even bring the much-needed co-op changes in the near future.

With that said, do you think Saber needs to rework three-player co-op in Space Marine 2? Let us know in the comments below.
