Tuberville tells young people ’future is at stake,’ to vote for Trump

Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., praised former President Donald Trump and joined fellow politicians in courting votes in the final push before the Nov. 5 election.

Tuberville was in New York ahead Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden.

“It’s going to be very close,” Tuberville said, of the presidential election and the balance of power in the House and Senate.

“He‘s got to win. Our country is in such a tailspin. The people that say they might not voting for President Trump this election, they‘re voting against their future. I don‘t understand that. I‘ve been trying to tell to these young people across the country, you’re future is at stake. if you don‘t elect someone who believes in America, believes in the Constitution like President Trump, you’re going to have a tough time in life.”

Nationwide, nearly 42 million 18-to-27-year-olds — the group known as Generation Z — will be eligible to vote, according to a recent analysis by The Washington Post. Their decisions could be crucial in tight races and battleground states.

Republicans have been working hard to court young adults, whom polls say are more likely to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris. The Harvard Youth Poll shows Harris leading Trump 60% to 32% among likely young voters.

Tuberville is among other politicians, on both sides of the aisle, criss-crossing the country for television, donor and voter appearances in the final days of campaigning.

He told Maria Bartiromo on Fox News that he was golfing with Trump a year ago when the former president said he thought he had a chance winning New York state.

“I said, you‘ve lost your mind,” Tuberville recalled. “He goes, you wait and see. We‘re going to work New York hard. We‘re going to get to people and tell people the truth of what’s happening, we‘re going to clean our cities and states up around the country, and New York‘s going to be one of them. He‘s giving them a run for it, and I think he’s got a good chance.”

President Joe Biden defeated Trump in New York by 23% in 2020. But the two parties are fighting over multiple races in the Empire State, and a flipped Republican or Democratic seat, there or in Alabama, might decide the balance of power in the House.
