Arguably the most hyped gaming release is now knocking on the door. Fans’ anticipation regarding GTA 6 right now doesn’t know any boundaries. Rockstar Games has confirmed that this highly anticipated open-world title is coming in the fall of 2025. However, no solid release date has been confirmed yet.
Along with GTA 6, people are concerned over another matter that is actually way more important than the game itself. And that is the United States Presidential Election 2024. This time too, we got to see the former President of the country, Donald Trump, on the election podium. Now, if Trump wins this time, the co-founder of Rockstar Games will not be very happy to release the highly anticipated title.
Dan Houser Didn’t Want to Release GTA 6 at the Time of Donald Trump
Donald Trump might become the US President yet again. However, this fact might not make the Rockstar Games co-founder, Dan Houser, pretty happy.
In an interview with GQ Magazine in 2018, Houser made clear that he was very “thankful” that GTA 6 was not going to be released at that time (amidst the tenure of Trump as the President). This is what he stated:
It’s really unclear what we would even do with it, let alone how upset people would get with whatever we did. Both intense liberal progression and intense conservatism are both very militant and very angry. It is scary but it’s also strange, and yet both of them seem occasionally to veer towards the absurd. It’s hard to satirise for those reasons. Some of the stuff you see is straightforwardly beyond satire. It would be out of date within two minutes, everything is changing so fast.
Donald Trump has previously served as the President of the United States from 2017 to 2021. Now, in the upcoming presidential election, Trump has once again come out to be one of the candidates from the Republican Party against the former VP, Kamala Harris, from the Democratic Party.
Being the former president of the country, Trump seems to be having an edge over Harris and can potentially become the successor of Joe Biden.
Is GTA 6 Getting Delayed?
There are rumors all over the internet that the release of GTA 6 might be delayed beyond 2025. this rumor was first sparked by GTA community member BilsyLiamGTA, which set social media on fire. This member claimed that GTA 6 has been internally delayed to early to mid-2026 from the initially released window of Q3/Q4 2026. According to him, this information came from multiple developers across two Rockstar Games offices.
In a now-deleted tweet, this is what Liam stated: “EXCLUSIVE: GTA VI has been internally delayed by Rockstar Games, and they’ve already decided on the early to mid-2026 release window.” In that tweet, he also claimed that the PC version of the game will launch 12–18 months after the console launch.
Now why was his tweet erupted so quickly? Actually, Liam boasts previous successful teases and rumors that later went on to become true. For example, he teased that the first trailer of the game was coming in December 2023, long before any mainstream outlets revealed the information.
However, later on, credible industry insider Jason Schreier ruled out any possibility of delaying the launch of the highly anticipated title. That means if Trump wins the presidential election and GTA 6 comes out, Houser is going to have some serious headaches.
