Marlaska admits “a significant shock” over the Errejón case and calls on Sumar to “quickly assume responsibilities”
The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has admitted that the Errejón case has caused a “great commotion” in the Government and in the space of the political left, in addition to “sadness”, and has demanded “speed” in the assumption of responsibilities at Sumar. In any case, he maintains that there is no concern about the continuity of the Government coalition and that there are “projects underway” for the legislature, ensuring that the Executive will exhaust it.
“It has caused a significant commotion, because for the progressive Government, feminist policies are in its hard core, in its DNA, that has determined an aura of sadness,” Marlaska said in response to the accusations of sexist violence that precipitated the resignation last week. and abandonment of politics by Sumar’s former spokesperson and co-founder of Podemos y Más Madrid, Íñigo Errejón.
Next, he has advocated for “now allowing Sumar to carry out this necessary and essential process of assuming responsibility, which must be quick, because the issue is serious”, although he has recognized that until now, Sumar’s response has been “ “quick and forceful” with the meeting with Errejón that precipitated his abandonment.
Personally, he has denied that he knew anything related to Errejón’s behavior, stating that when he met them it was a shock and that he initially attributed the former deputy’s resignation to “tiredness.”
