Authorities have released the name of a man killed Monday in a Bessemer shooting.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as James S. Bowen Jr. He was 21 and lived in Birmingham.
The shooting happened at 3:45 p.m. Monday in the 5900 block of Greenwood Parkway.
Bowen was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:42 p.m.
Det. Justin Burmeister said the deadly shooting happened in the parking lot of an undisclosed business.
The investigation is in its early stages, but no arrests have been announced.
Bowen is Bessemer’s 10th homicide this year.
