24-year-old dies 2 days after Montgomery hit-and-run; driver found

A Montgomery man died Thursday, two days after he was critically injured in a hit-and-run.

Police on Friday identified the fatality victim as Quanterious Thompson. He was 24.

Montgomery police Maj. Saba Coleman said authorities were notified Wednesday that Thompson was in the hospital and had sustained life-threatening injuries.

Investigators determined the crash happened about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Norman Bridge Road and East South Boulevard.

The police department, she said, was not notified by 911 of the collision so a patrol unit was not dispatched to the wreck scene. Because the location was close a fire station, she said, Thompson received aid and transported to the hospital.

He was pronounced dead on Thursday.

The driver and vehicle, a 2006 Mercury Montego, were located on Thursday.

The case will be presented to a grand jury.

Coleman said the investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
