After months of speculations and leaks, the PlayStation 5 Pro is finally here. PS5 lead architect, Mark Cerny, announced the new console during a PS5 Technical Presentation. The PS5 Pro is basically a PS5 on steroids as it takes console gaming to the next level. In terms of looks, the console is quite similar to the original PS5 but has stripes on both sides.
Sony has called the PS5 Pro its most advanced and innovative console hardware to date, plus this console also features something called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution that improves the visuals using machine learning-based technology.
PS5 Pro Will Allow Gamers To Run Higher Fidelity Graphics With Smoother Frame Rates
The PlayStation fanboys are going wild as PS5 lead architect, Mark Cerny, revealed the PS5 Pro during a PS5 Technical Presentation. The highly-anticipated console of 2024 is finally here and it’s safe to say that it was worth the wait.
With the PS5 Pro, Sony has taken console gaming to the next level. During the presentation, Cerny admitted that “players are choosing performance about three-quarters of the time.” In most cases, console gamers have to compromise on graphics if they wish to see better performance, however, PS5 Pro eliminates this problem.
PS5 Pro Features A Better GPU, Improved Ray Tracing And AI-Driven Upscaling
After 4 long years, Sony analyzed the problems that players were facing with the regular PS5 and came up with the PS5 Pro. In a post on PlayStation.Blog, Sony explained the new elements of the PS5 Pro:
Better GPU: PS5 Pro’s GPU has 67% more Compute Units than the current PS5 console and 28% faster memory. This upgrade allows 45% faster rendering for gameplay.
Advanced Ray Tracing: The new, powerful ray tracing provides more dynamic reflection and refraction of light. This allows the rays to be cast at double, and at times triple, the speeds of the current PS5 console.
AI-Driven Upscaling: Sony also introduced PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-driven upscaling that uses a machine learning-based technology to provide super sharp image clarity by adding an extraordinary amount of detail.
Other notable upgrades include an upgraded SSD of 2TB, the latest wireless technology, Wi-Fi 7, and VRR, and 8K gaming support.
PS5 Pro will also feature Game Boost, a feature that can apply to more than 8,500 backward compatible PlayStation 4 games that are playable on PS5 Pro. Game Boost “may stabilize or improve” the performance of supported PS4 and PS5 games.
The PS5 Pro is compatible with the PS5 accessories currently available, including the Disc Drive, an accessory that many will buy as the PS5 Pro will only be available as a disc-less console.
The PS5 Pro has a hefty price tag of $699.99, £699.99, €799.99, and ¥119,980. Preorders will begin on September 26, 2024, and it will launch on November 7, 2024.
