9-month-old placed in DHR custody after raid at Lee County home; drugs, guns confiscated

A morning drug raid in Lee County led to the arrests of two people, and the seizure of drugs and guns.

Authorities said a 9-month-old child was at the home during the raid and was placed into the custody of the Department of Human Resources.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office, including its SWAT team, and the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office carried out the raid at 6 a.m. Friday in the 600 block of Lee Road 293 in Smiths Station.

Investigators confiscated 869 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana and three guns.

Kenneth Byron Halsey, 48, and Kacee Jo Pruitt, 30, are charged with trafficking methamphetamine, chemical endangerment of a child, second-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both are being held in the Lee County Jail with bond set at $56,000 each.
