MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The families of two Albertville students killed in a wreck last week are asking for help with funeral expenses.
GoFundMe’s made by family members say 15-year-old Jovana Morales and 13-year-old Tamy Carmelo were killed in an Albertville wreck on Nov. 20.
Morales’ family wrote “She attended Albertville City Schools. She lived with her mom and sister, who could really use this help for funeral expenses during this difficult time. She is now remembered as a beloved daughter, sister, and friend. We appreciate any help and prayers! Thank you.”
Carmelo’s mom wrote “My 13-year-old daughter Tamy Carmelo’s life was tragically taken in the car accident that happened Wednesday morning. My mother, Demetria Vásquez, and I, Elidia Ramírez, are heartbroken. Tamy was a student at Albertville School. She has left a void in the hearts of our family, friends, and classmates. We’re seeking support to cover funeral expenses. Any donation, prayer, or share is deeply appreciated. May God bless you for your kindness.”
Assistant District Attorney Adam Culbert said 18-year-old Yeismin Ramirez was charged with manslaughter and two counts of assault for the wreck. ALEA confirmed that Ramirez was driving the vehicle.
According to the Marshall County Coroner, a 15-year-old girl died from her injuries sustained in the crash at Huntsville Hospital Thursday. This is the second teenage girl who died from this wreck after a 13-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency added that a 17-year-old was also injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
ALEA said the crash happened on Blessing Road near Arley Lacy Road, about two miles north of Boaz.
Albertville City Schools said Wednesday before the second teenager died that all four of the teens in the wreck were students in the school system. School officials confirmed the 13-year-old was a middle school student, two of the students were Albertville High School students and one was an Albertville Innovation Academy student.
The school system also released a message after the death of the second student on Thursday. You can read that statement below.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share an update about the recent car accident involving four of our students. This evening, we received the devastating news that a second student has passed away from their injuries. Our entire school community is grieving this loss, and our thoughts are with the families of both students we have lost, as well as with those who are still recovering. This is an incredibly difficult time for so many, and we want to remind everyone that no one has to go through it alone.”

The Beulah Fire Department, Albertville Fire Department, Albertville Police Department, and Marshall Health Systems all responded to the scene of the crash.
